Somatometric Parameters

WHAT ARE THEY?

A person’s body measurements are determined based on their circumference at three key points:

  • Hip
  • Average
  • chest

All measurements are taken while standing upright with the back straight.

WHAT WE CALCULATE

Based on anthropometric parameters, in combination with other variables, it is possible to further calculate:

  • The waist-to-hip ratio
  • Body size
  • BMI (body mass index)
  • The Ideal Weight
  • Body Fat
  • RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate)
  • Calories Burned
  • The maximum predicted heart rate
  • Maximum heart rate

WHY SHOULD WE MEASURE THEM?

The above are fundamental principles both for calculating metabolism and for weight loss efforts. In the Metabolism and Obesity Department of the CarE MediC , the combination of measurements and ergometric tests provides personalized information to support weight loss efforts.
