Arrhythmia detection devices

NEW TECHNOLOGIES

Technology, through cell phones and smartwatches, is now able to provide us—albeit still in its early stages— further information in the effort to detect transient arrhythmias and palpitations.

The clinics CarE MediC clinics are participating in the development of such devices and applications with a portable electrocardiogram (ECG), which provides a wealth of information for the identification and potential diagnosis of arrhythmia in a remote setting.

WHAT IS IT?

It is a personal device about the size of a credit card that connects to smartphones (Android and iOS) via an app and Bluetooth and records an ECG that provides users with remote monitoring and important information for doctors, allowing them to remotely observe their patients’ heart rate variability. This pocket ECG enables clinicians to expand their practice by assisting in the diagnosis of heart conditions (particularly arrhythmias) on a daily basis. It also provides a detailed report with a wide range of statistical data available to the physician. It also helps identify the correlation between physical activity and arrhythmia.

WHERE CAN I FIND IT?

The device is currently in the trial phase; for more information, please contact the person in charge—the coordinator of the medical division responsible for the device and its applications Dr. Christos Maniotis
